Dad buys £6 coat from charity shop and is delighted when he checks the pockets

Everyone loves a good bargain - but one shopper couldn't believe his eyes when he scored two jackpots withone charity shop trip.Explaining how his son has been in search of the "perfect leather jacket" for months, he says the father-son duo ventured to a Goodwill hoping today would be the day.

It turns out luck was on their side as they came away with not only a $7.99 (£5.50) jacket - but little did he know at the time, there was an extra surprise hiding in its pocket. In a viral 2022 Reddit post that has recirculating online this week, the dad said: "My son has been on the search for the perfect leather jacket for months now.

"Every Goodwill we go to he wanders off looking for the perfect leather jacket and comes up empty handed or it’s just not quite right.

"But while on vacation in Flagstaff, Arizonian, this weekend. We naturally stop at our favourite store the Goodwill and he goes on his search for his jacket and I go skipping off to the knickknacks.

"Then about four minutes later he comes running, 'Papa! Papa! I found the one! I found the one!' And for $7.99 of course I get him his jacket that he’s been on a endless search for what I imagine seems like decades to a eight year old!

"He even said I 'changed' his life… I really don’t know what his obsession with the leather jacket is, but hey again for $7.99 I am now a life changer! Well at least for today, we all know how that goes.

"So we purchased the jacket and tucked it in the trunk and went on with our vacation."

As soon as they arrived at their holiday home, the boy started examining his new jacket before heading upstairs to try it on in front of the mirror.

The next thing he knew, his son was shouting "Papa, papa" at the top of his voice, making him wonder whether something was wrong.

He added: "I hear 'PAPA! PAPA! I found credit cards in my jacket!' I was thinking 'WTF' and he comes running down and shows me four gift cards with $10 values on them and I’ll be dammed they are all loaded! $40 in Subway gift cards!

"So he’s totally excited and offers to buy everyone dinner and now I’m absolutely thrilled that means Papa haven't got to cook tonight."

The heartwarming story has delighted many – and plenty of people took the time to leave a comment on the post.
